LT 8222 - This ram was the Free State (provincial show at Frankfort) Senior Champion Ram in 2000 as well as the Free State Reserve Champion Wool Ram for SAMMs
LT 8222 is one of Sandown Samms Top Sires residing in South Africa8222 LT is a top class breeding sire out of a very fertile dam.  He is a triplet.
In June 2004 from 193 of his progeny inspected after the age of 10 months only 4% (7) were culled (which is excellent for the dual purpose breed)
The progeny's wool and conformation was above average in the 3 studs that have used him

At the 2000 South African National Championships he was the Reserve Champion Ram under 20 months and the Reserve Champion on Conformation for age 12 - 24 months.

2002 National Championships
Daughter 1144 JVB was the reserve in the under 12 month ewe class and came third in the Junior Champion Ewe class

2003 National Championships:
1144 JVB - won the under 24 months ewe class and Reserve Senior Champion Ewe in 2003

2093 JVB - Ram came 3rd in under 12 months class, and 3rd in Junior Champion Ram class  (Picture opposite)

1314 GHM - 1st under 20 months rams and 3rd in Senior Champion Ram, also Free State Provincial Senior Champion Ram at Frankfort

2005 South African National Championships

GHM 4205 won Junior Champion Ewe in both the Wool and Confirmation Classes, which is a rare feat

 

Some interesting results from a commercial trial undertaken in South Africa.....

1213 JVB - A son of LT8222, was the the best wool and highest wool income out of a group of 78 rams of 13 different South African Breeders, that were kept under the same feeding conditions on natural veldt for 12 months (Show for measured production 2003). Its micron was 22.2 and fleece mass of 6.05kg and a total wool income of R 182.93
